Have you passed your driving test since January 1997?
If you are considering towing a trailer, boat, horsebox or large caravan you are not legally allowed to tow trailers e.t.c with a gross laden weight or MAM - (maximum authorised mass) exceeding 750kg and you will have to take the Category B+E Trailer Test. This includes most horseboxes, large boats, caravans e.t.c
WARNING - By towing in excess of this weight your insurance is not valid !!!!!
Trailer B+E Test Preparation CourseThe course is 1 1/2 days long with the test on the second day. The test is marked at the level of HGV and therefore is of considerable higher standard than the regular practical driving test. It is not just about reversing with a trailer, it is also about improving your own driving skills.
The course starts at 8.30am and finishes approx 4.30pm on the 1st day. You will have 2 small breaks and a lunch period. The course will include trailer use and the law, loading and coupling plus the off-road handling exercise. You will need the standard B Class licence to undertake this course. The following day the B+E test will be arranged and you will have training before the test. The course fee includes hire of the trailer for the test.
We use an Ifor Williams BV85G Braked Box Van for our tuition which comply's with all the current regulations for the B+E Test with a MAM of 2700kg.
Vehicle HireWe will also supply a suitable training vehicle, this is currently a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI although if preferred you are welcome to use your own vehicle if suitable.

To tow successfully you must understand:
* The combined length of your towing vehicle and trailer.
* The limitations your vehicle has with extra weight attached.
* The laws requiring speed limits.
* How to hitch / load your trailer.
* How to accurately reverse with your trailer.
